English summary: Considerable importance has been ascribed to the Anne Frank Diary in the global culture of Holocaust remembrance. The approach of competence-oriented historical learning aims at the practice of dealing with cultural memory. What, against this background, characterises historical questions on the Anne Frank diary in contrast to those dealt with by German teaching or the study of politics? The book examines the diary as an eye witness report of the events which led to the Holocaust and therefore puts its identity in the foreground as a source bound in perspective and powerful in its historical reception. On the basis of current discourses in didactics, pedagogy and historical science, concrete problem areas, texts and tasks models are presented for the teaching of history. German description: Kaum ein Dokument aus der Zeit des Zweiten Weltkriegs erfahrt heute eine vergleichbare offentliche Aufmerksamkeit wie das Tagebuch der Anne Frank. Dabei ist wenig bekannt, dass die millionenfach verkaufte Ausgabe das Ergebnis eines Editionsprozesses ist, der mit der Uberarbeitung der Autorin selbst seinen Anfang nahm - "das" Anne-Frank-Tagebuch hat es nicht gegeben. Warum das so war, und welche Ruckschlusse uber die Perspektiven der "Hinterhausbewohner" sich aus den Aufzeichnungen der Anne Frank historisch ziehen lassen, ist Gegenstand dieses Buches. Es wird danach gefragt, was die Zeitgenossen uber das Tagesgeschehen wissen konnten und wie sie es bewerteten, worauf sie ihre Hoffnungen setzten. Das Kernanliegen des Buches ist, das Tagebuch aus der Perspektive der Geschichtswissenschaft wahrzunehmen. Aus der historischen und didaktischen Analyse der Aufzeichnungen der Anne Frank werden zwolf Textauszuge intensiver diskutiert, die zur Erarbeitung des Themas Nationalsozialismus und Zweiter Weltkrieg im Geschichtsunterricht und der Geschichtslehrerbildung empfohlen werden.
