Emilio Lledó (born in 1927) is a Spanish philosopher and essayist known for his work in the history of philosophy, hermeneutics, and language theory. Throughout his career, he has explored the significance of classical thought and its relationship with contemporary society. Among his most notable works are The Silence of Writing (1991), Days and Books (2003), and In Praise of Unhappiness (2005), in which he reflects on knowledge, memory, and the role of education.

Lledó has been a staunch advocate for humanism and education as fundamental tools for societal development. His accessible style and philosophical depth have made his essays key references for critical thinking and reflection on culture and freedom.
