Synopsis "United States Army Heroes During World War II: 3d Infantry Division (Volume II)"

The 3d Infantry Division, "The Rock of the Marne", was the second-most decorated Infantry Division of World War II. The account of the deeds of these soldiers is divided into two large books. VOLUME I contains citations and/or detailed synopsis for awards of the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, and Silver Stars to recipients with last names "A" through "K" in World War II. VOLUME II continues with Silver Stars to recipients "L" through "Z", and awards of the Legion of Merit and Soldier's Medal. Volume II also includes detailed APPENDIXES that analyze all awards by such criteria are the rank and specialty of these recipients, awards by unit down to the company level, and recipients by home town. Combined, these two volumes represent more than 3,000 high awards to members of the 3d Infantry Division in World War II.
