Jorge Mario Bergoglio, known worldwide as Pope Francis, was a prolific author in the genres of spirituality, theology, and social doctrine. Before his election as pontiff in 2013, he wrote works such as Meditations for Religious (1982) and On Self-Accusation (2005).
