Josefina Urdaneta
Josefina Urdaneta was a Venezuelan writer, poet, and educator, a pioneer in modern preschool education in her country. Founder of the Monte Carmelo Institute in Maracaibo and Caracas, she promoted methods focused on children's creative expression. Additionally, she was a columnist on art and education, and a member of the Venezuelan Federation of Writers' Associations.
Among her most notable works are Goldilocks and the Three Bears (2008), The Sun and the Water (2000), If I sing... I am a lavender (2000), Story I Tell You (2014), and Little Chick Pito (2014). Her production spans genres such as narrative, poetry, and theater, with a special focus on children's literature and the compilation of traditional tales. The Sun and the Water received second place in the Children's Book category of the Best Book of the Year Award given by the National Book Center in 2000.
