Synopsis "100ccs"

“When moving through the world, if you go fast enough, you forget the agonies of death and time. At least for a little while.” Still learning the quirks of one another—and their 100cc motorbike—Army and Xi pack their shaky lives into a single shared bag and leave the Caribbean coast of Colombia for Lima, Peru, where they’ve been booked to sing at a friend’s wedding. Whether the bike or their relationship will survive the trip is uncertain, but it’s a plan, and that’s more than they’ve had for a while. 100ccs is an existential barreling toward the end of your twenties—a restless search for certainty and connection along the unknown stretches of the inner road. Swaying seamlessly between the ecstatic and the exacting, Corey Lof examines the illusions of escape, the uneasy ethics of tourism, and the fragile negotiations of intimacy under pressure. "100ccs is a book about relationships and everything that gets lost (and found) in translation. It’s also really funny. Corey Lof is the real deal. This book proves it.” — Troy James Weaver, author of Marigold “I love this book so much; the story (young romantics in a foreign country), the language (poetic, masculine, compulsive), the hilarious, badass female character, the protagonist (male), a romantic (in love with the hilarious badass); I found myself falling for both of them (and this on-the-road in South America tale).” —Elizabeth Ellen, author of American Thighs, editor of Hobart and SF/LD Books
