وقف (آدم) ذو الأعوام العشرة على عتبة منزله، ومِن مكانه ذاك كان يطلُّ على باب المطبخ الذي احتوَى أمَّه وأبيه اللَّذَين كانا في خضمِّ نِقاشٍ لـلكبار لا يستحسن أن يسمعه (آدم) الذي ما زال صغيرًا على أن يسمع عن الضائقة الماديَّة التي أصابت أهله، أو عن الحرب التي نهشَت وطنه، أو عن العالم الخفيّ الذي يحيط به وبعالمه مِن كلِّ صوب، فلو سمع (آدم) حينها عن هذه الأسرار لزال الحصن الذهبي عنه، ولرأَت عيناه الجنَّ بأصنافهم وأعراقهم وألوانهم المتنوِّعة يطوفون حول كلَّ شبرٍ في شارعه، ولسمعَت أذناه همسات الجنِّ التي تتحدَّث عن معركة "كرم ناز"، أو عن نبوءة نهاية حكم الجنِّ التي راودَت الأسياد الثلاثة، أو عن حرب الأمراء الــ 99 المقبلة على الاندلاع، ولنطَق لسانه.. لا.. لن ينطق (آدم) بشيء عن الجنِّ، فمَن سيُصدِّق صغيرًا كآدم؟!
