Synopsis "A Short Life"

Although people talk of time being a great healer, Kitty is finding the reverse to be true. Ever since her mum died, she has been protecting and supporting her brother, her sister, and her dad - and has turned down a wonderful work opportunity to do so. Now Tom is tied up with his new girlfriend, Annie with her new baby, and even Graham seems to be moving forward in his life. None of them seem aware that Kitty is growing increasingly despondent, and increasingly lonely, feeling they are leaving her behind. Loneliness can provoke bad decision-making and Kitty is about to make a few, significant, poor choices. Ruth can see what’s coming but as ever is unable to intervene. Will the rest of the family notice in time, and step in to give Kitty the support she badly needs? A Short Life is the final book in the What Comes Next series, about life, loss, family, friendship, hope and - above all - love.
