Das Wort Ab bezeichnet eine afrikanische Sprache mit ca. 200.000 Sprechern, die der Kwa-Sprachfamilie zugeordnet werden und im Gebiet von Agboville (Elfenbeinkste) gesprochen wird. Ab wird in der ganzen Prfektur Agboville (Auer im Kanton Krobou), zudem noch im Kanton Tiassale in der gleichnamigen Prfektur, insgesamt in 70 "Drfern" gesprochen. Sprecher sind die zu den Akan gehrenden Ab. Innerhalb von Ab werden vier Dialekte gesprochen. Die Kwa-Sprachen sind eine Untergruppe des Sd-Volta-Kongo-Zweigs der Niger-Kongo-Sprachen. Zusammen mit den Benue-Kongo-Sprachen bilden sie den Sdzweig des Volta-Kongo. Die rund 75 Kwa-Sprachen werden von 21 Mio. Menschen in der Elfenbeinkste, Ghana, Togo, Benin und Sdwest-Nigeria gesprochen. Nachbarn im Norden sind die Gur-Sprachen, im Osten die zentral-nigerianischen Sprachen, im Westen die Mande- und Kru-Sprachen.
