Dort gelangte sie offensichtlich in den Besitz des Kaisers Claudius, der sie spter frei lie.[1] Dadurch erhhte sich ihr sozialer Status. In welchem Verhltnis sie zu Claudius stand, ist nicht belegt, doch verblieb sie anscheinend bis ber seinen Tod hinaus im kaiserlichen Palast, wo sie der jugendliche Nero 55 n. Chr. kennenlernte, der in heftiger Liebe zu ihr entflammte. Ihretwegen verlie Nero, sehr zum Missfallen seiner Mutter Agrippina, seine Frau Octavia, die er hasste.
