Dezember 1960 in Kln) war ein deutscher Philologe, Sprachwissenschaftler und Volkskundler. Er studierte Geschichte, Germanistik, Philologie und Geografie in Bonn und in Mnster und wurde 1905 in Tbingen zum Dr. phil. promoviert. Ab 1921 war er Honorarprofessor an der Universitt zu Kln. Ihm zu Ehren wurde in der Nhe der Flora (Kln), dem Botanischen Garten, im Klner Stadtteil Nippes eine Strae benannt. Bekannt wurde Wrede durch sein dreibndiges, erstmals 1956/58 erschienenes und immer wieder neu aufgelegtes Werk Neuer klnischer Sprachschatz , das bereits vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg druckfertig vorlag und bei der Zerstrung von Wredes Haus 1942 zum grten Teil gerettet werden konnte.
