Mrz 1881 in Stuttgart) war ein deutscher klassischer Philologe, Altertumsforscher und Kurator. Als studierter Theologe wechselte er ganz zur Philologie und promovierte 1839 in Tbingen. Schon neben seinem Amt als Lehrer am Gymnasium publizierte er in der J. B. Metzler''schen Verlagsbuchhandlung. Er vollendete August Friedrich Paulys bersetzung der Briefe des Seneca (1832 36) und verfasste zahlreiche Beitrge in der von diesem begrndeten und in zweiter Auflage von Wilhelm Siegmund Teuffel begonnenen Umarbeitung der Real-Encyclopdie der classischen Alterthumswissenschaft (1837 1864). Seit einer Reise im Jahre 1846 machte er auch Kunst- und archologische Studien. 1856 gab er sein Gymnasiallehramt auf und wurde geschftsfhrendes Mitglied der Stuttgarter Kunstschule mit dem Titel Professor.
