Born in New York, Harris began his career at Marvel Comics, where he created titles such as Slingers and Bishop: The Last X-Man. Later, he joined DC Comics, where he wrote for The Fury of Firestorm during The New 52 reboot

In 2013, Harris took on the writing of The X-Files: Season 10, an official continuation of the TV series, published by IDW Publishing. The series, which stayed true to the original mythology, was overseen by the series creator, Chris Carter, who acted as executive producer. The series was well received by fans and critics, and Harris continued with The X-Files: Season 11, establishing himself as a key figure in the expansion of The X-Files universe in comics

In addition to his work in comics, Harris has ventured into horror cinema.
