El Mundial de Estados Unidos parece devolver la fe a un pueblo que hace mucho tiempo dejó de creer en milagros. Hasta que el jugador con el dorsal número 2, Andrés Escobar, marca un gol en propia puerta que desencadena varias tragedias. En el mismo estadio se queda sin voz el comentarista deportivo Pepe Calderón Tovar, quien, días después, decide acabar con al vida del defenestrado héroe nacional. Para ello viaja hasta Medellín, ciudad en la que reinan la cocaína y los sicarios. Pero Calderón Tovar no solo recorre la geografía colombiana, sino también su propio pasado. Ese viaje por su vida y por un país en guerra es al mismo tiempo delirante, hipnótico y trágico.

Ricardo Silva Romero was born in Bogotá in 1975. He is the author of the novels A Christmas Tale on La Gran Vía, Walkman, Tic, Looks Like It's Going to Rain, End, The Man of a Thousand Names, In Order of Height, Own Goal, Once Upon a Time in Colombia -composed of Romantic Comedy and The Scarecrow-, The Book of Envy, Official History of Love, Everything Will Be Alright, How to Lose Everything (winner of the V Colombian Narrative Library Award) and Dead River. He also published a volume of essays on fiction titled Fictionary, the play Sunday, two collections of stories, two poetry books, and a couple of genre-less books.
