God never promised He would protect us from experiencing problems in this world. In fact, in a broken world, it is certain that we will have difficulties throughout life. But God has promised that when we walk with Him we will be able to battle those problems differently and more effectively than if we walk without Him. In BEDROCK, Kent Adrian explains that the key to handling life isn't found in ourselves, or in what is happening to us, but rather in what we believe about the character of God. There are bedrock beliefs about God that will transform the way we look at what happens to us in life, thus changing the way we respond to life. Kent looks at how we develop our trust in who God is and how we can experience a greater strength and confidence in facing whatever life may bring. Behind it all is the conviction that the gospel is essentially a restored relational dynamic with God (a focus many are losing in the way they think about and live out their faith) and the difference that can make in our lives if we allow it. Kent Adrian is pastor of Shepherd Road Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida, and has served as a pastor for over 30 years. He is also President and Executive Director of Life Impact Connections, Inc., a Christian speaking and resource ministry. The goal of this ministry is to counter the various forms of a me-centered gospel so prevalent today with the genuine God-centered gospel and to emphasize the life-giving impact of this gospel. Kent is a graduate of Wichita State University (B.A. Business Administration) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M-Div.).
