Synopsis "Botanica"

John Jenkins is a retired actor who plans to teach his grandchildren an important lesson about family, life, and growing up in America on their summer vacation. Captain Joseph Brown suspects his crew of mutiny while sailing a wanted ship in the Caribbean Sea in the early 19th century. Robin Sparrow is troubled by the atmosphere of a brokerage firm during a job interview. Marylin Somar is overcome with anxiety when she is asked to perform an unscheduled sonogram on a man who is handcuffed to a hospital bed. And in the title story seventeen-year-old Roberto reluctantly agrees to drive his younger sister to a store that sells folk medicine and spiritual figurines in hopes of finding something to make a boy at school fall in love with her. These are a few of the characters encased in Jose Pizarro Cruz's first collection of short stories.
