Janusz Korczak, pseudonym of Henryk Goldszmit (Warsaw, 1878 or 1879 – Treblinka, 1942), was a prominent Polish-Jewish pediatrician, educator, and writer. Known for his work advocating for children's rights, he managed orphanages like Dom Sierot and Nasz Dom, implementing self-governance systems for children. His most significant works include King Matt the First (1923), Kaytek the Wizard (1935), How to Love a Child (1920), The Child’s Right to Respect (1929), and Ghetto Diary (1942), the latter written during his time in the Warsaw Ghetto.

His literary output spans both children's literature and pedagogical essays, excelling in the educational and human rights genre. Korczak is considered a pioneer in defending children's rights, and his legacy has influenced modern pedagogy.
