Cognitive Performance by Design is a practical, neuroscience-informed exploration of how we can work with the brain rather than constantly forcing it to perform against its natural limits. Built around Dr. Sahar Yousef's principles of cognitive performance, the book moves beyond conventional productivity advice to examine focus, chronotype, environmental design, energy management, deep work, identity, habit formation, and sustainable recovery from burnout. What makes this book especially personal for me is that I did not encounter Yousef's ideas simply as theories to admire. I encountered them at a point when my own relationship with productivity needed reconsideration. Her work challenged my assumption that greater effort was always the answer and helped me see performance as something that must be intentionally designed around biology, environment, and identity. As I engaged with these principles, I began to rethink how I protect my attention, structure demanding work, manage my energy, and define achievement itself. The book therefore represents both an accessible presentation of Yousef's framework and a personal journey toward a more deliberate, sustainable way of pursuing ambition-one in which performance and well-being are not competing goals, but parts of the same architecture.
