Cuca Canals, born in Barcelona in 1962, is a prominent Spanish writer, screenwriter, and painter. With a degree in Information Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she worked in advertising until 1992, winning major national and international awards. As a screenwriter, she collaborated with director Bigas Luna on films such as "Jamón, jamón" (1992), "Huevos de oro" (1993), and "La teta y la luna" (1994), which received the Golden Osella for Best Screenplay at the Venice Festival.
In her literary facet, Canals has written novels like "Berta la larga" (1996), translated into several languages, and children's and young adult books such as "La profesora que hacía faltas de ortografía" (2014) and the "El joven Poe" series, which began in 2011 with "El misterio de la calle Morgue". Her work spans genres such as contemporary narrative and children's and young adult literature, standing out for her creativity and originality.
