Der Traum, vom selbstbestimmten Leben scheitert. Lene muss ihr Leben unter ähnlich schwierigen Bedingungen meistern wie vor ihr schon ihre Mutter und Gro mutter. Angeregt durch die Tagebücher seiner Mutter, macht sich Lenes Sohn Klaus auf Spurensuche nach dem Leben seiner Vorfahren und beschlie t, aufzuschreiben wie sie lebten und wer sie waren, "die Frauen aus dem Wald".
