Ein Dorfroman Lesefreundlicher Gro druck in 16-pt-Schrift Gro format, 210 x 297 mm Berliner Ausgabe, 2021 Durchgesehener Neusatz mit einer Biografie des Autors bearbeitet und eingerichtet von Theodor Borken Erstdruck: Adolf Bonz, Stuttgart 1888. Umschlaggestaltung von Thomas Schultz-Overhage unter Verwendung des Bildes: Isaac Levitan, Im Frühjahr in den Alpen (Ausschnitt), 1897. Gesetzt aus der Minion Pro, 16 pt. Henricus - Edition Deutsche Klassik GmbH Über den Autor: 1855 in Kaufbeuren als Sohn eines Försters geboren, studiert Ludwig Albert Ganghofer zunächst Maschinenbau in München und wechselt dann nach Berlin und Leipzig, wo er 1879 in Literaturgeschichte promoviert. Er schreibt für die Gartenlaube und das Feuilleton des Neuen Wiener Tagblatts, 1880 wird sein erstes Schauspiel uraufgeführt, 1881 wird er Dramaturg am Ringtheater. Er gilt als humorvoll und charmant, verkehrt in prominenten Kreisen und zählt bald selbst dazu. Von 1915 bis 1917 verfasst er als Kriegsberichterstatter Patriotisches direkt von der Front, ist voll des Lobes auf den Kaiser, mit dem er persönlich befreundet ist. Schwer verletzt überlebt er, und mit dem Eisernen Kreuz versehen zieht er sich zurück in seine Villa Maria nach Tegernsee. Am 24. Juli 1920 stirbt mit Ludwig Ganghofer ein bekannter bayerischer Heimatdichter und einer der am häufigsten verfilmten deutschen Autoren überhaupt.
