Se conservan muchos escritos de Platón cuya característica principal es que están en forma de diálogo, y su principal protagonista suele ser Sócrates, a quien suele utilizar para defender su propio pensamiento. Es por eso que en el mundo de la Filosofía se conoce como Diálogos de Platón a la obra del célebre filósofo griego, distinguido por haber sido el principal discípulo de Sócrates y maestro de Aristóteles, con quienes conforma el cuadro de los tres principales filósofos de la antigua Grecia. De acuerdo a los especialistas, Platón trató de imitar las enseñanzas de su maestro, quien ponía en práctica con sus aprendices la Ivígyéuhca, es decir, el debate con fines educativos, que lleva a que el estudiante, a través de la argumentación, descubra por sí mismo la verdad. De esta forma, Platón coloca en el escenario a varios personajes que se dan a la tarea de discutir sobre temas de gran trascendencia como el Amor, el arte la justicia entre otros.

Plato (Athens, ca. 427 BC – ca. 347 BC) was a Greek philosopher, a disciple of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle, whose work deeply influenced Western philosophy. He founded the Academy of Athens, one of the first educational institutions of the ancient world. His philosophical legacy is conveyed through dialogues, a literary genre in which he developed ideas about ethics, politics, epistemology, and metaphysics.

Among his most recognized works are Apology of Socrates, Crito, and The Symposium, all written approximately between 399 and 385 BC, in addition to The Republic and Phaedo. Through the character of Socrates, Plato explores themes that remain central in philosophical thought. His influence endures to this day, although he received no formal awards, given the historical context.
