Marci Bales Peschke was born in Indiana, grew up in Florida during the space race era, and currently lives in Texas with her husband and her black and white cat named Oreo Cookie —“Cookie” for friends— or Phoebe, depending on the source
She is a children's author and former school librarian passionate about reading, tea parties, and movies
As a librarian, she started her career in 1999 at Kramer Elementary School and worked in struggling schools, helping to improve their libraries and launch new programs in school communities
Her debut work was The Ghost’s Revenge (2006), inspired by stories of haunted houses where she lived during her childhood
She then created the popular Kylie Jean series, based on her niece, which follows a Texas girl who dreams of becoming a beauty queen, learning lessons about inner self-esteem, friendship, and perseverance
She has written or co-written several books in different genres —mystery, sports, art, and robotics— with more than 39 titles translated into multiple languages
She enjoys participating in school events, conferences, and signing copies, sharing her love for reading with girls and boys
