The Author has reviewed the life of Dr. Rasheed Jahan and her social and literary services.ڈاکٹر رشید جہاں (5 اگست، 1905ء - 29 جولائی، 1952ء)، ہندوستان میں اردو کی ایک ترقی پسند مصنفہ، قصہ گو، افسانہ نگار اور ناول نگار تھیں، جنہوں نے خواتین کی طرف سے تحریری اردو ادب کے ایک نئے دور کا آغاز کیا۔ وہ پیشے سے ایک ڈاکٹر تھیں۔رشید جہاں کو نہ صرف اس لحاظ سے اولیت حاصل ہے کہ وہ اردو ادب کی پہلی خاتون افسانہ نگار تھیں بلکہ اس لیے بھی ہے کہ قدامت پرستی کے خلاف نڈر ہوکر صدائے احتجاج بلند کرنے، سماج کی فرسودہ روایات، ذات پات اور نئی و پرانی نسل کے درمیان حائل پرانی گتھیوں کو سلجھانے اور خاص طورسے متوسط اور نچلے طبقے کی مسلم خواتین کی نفسیاتی پیچیدگی اور ان کی زندگی سے وابستہ مسائل کو اپنے افسانوں میں پیش کیا ہے۔ادریس احمد خاں نے اپنی اِس کتاب میں ڈاکٹر رشید جہاں کی زندگی ونیز ان کی سماجی و ادبی خدمات کا سیرحاصل جائزہ لیا ہے۔
