Drake Valakas. The Dragon King
Jesús Fernández Vega (Author) · Independently published · Paperback
Illustrated Black-and-White Edition
This edition presents a more accessible version of the work, designed to bring the story to a wider audience without losing its essence. It includes a selection of black-and-white illustrations, as well as a revised and updated version of the text.
Unlike the original deluxe edition, fully conceived by the author as the definitive version of the novel, this edition omits the artistic backgrounds that accompanied each page, reduces the number of illustrations, and replaces the full-color printing with a black-and-white format. The deluxe edition, by contrast, was designed with every page entirely in color and with a far more immersive visual approach.
These changes were made solely to reduce the high printing costs caused by extensive ink usage and to allow the work to reach more readers. For that reason, this version offers a more understated presentation while preserving the heart of the story intact.
Drake Valakas was born from a ritual that should never have been performed.
From childhood, he learned that survival comes at a price and that the world does not grant second chances. When the power of the Dragon becomes intertwined with his destiny, his rise becomes inevitable: he becomes a king, a threat, and the symbol of everything the world tried to erase.
His story is neither that of a hero nor a villain. It is the story of someone shaped by loss, violence, and a love that does not redeem him, but instead drives him even further away from himself.
While his reign spreads through war and darkness, another story unfolds far from epic battlefields. A father named Cacúm tells his children, night after night, the legend of the Dragon King. What begins as a story shared at home gradually takes on an unexpected weight. The boundaries between what is told and what is lived become increasingly fragile.
Drake Valakas: The Dragon King is a dark fantasy novel that blends epic storytelling, tragedy, and metanarrative. It speaks of power and its consequences, of memory, of inheritances no one chooses, and of the stories that survive because someone decides to keep telling them.
This is not a tale of easy redemption.
It offers no comforting answers.
But it does ask one unavoidable question:
What happens when the thing we try to bury becomes a legacy?
If you are looking for an intense, emotional, and different kind of fantasy, this story is waiting for you.
