Synopsis "Eckermann in Wien (in German)"

Ein Theaterstück zum 150. Todesjahr von Johann Peter Eckermann (1792 - 1854), Helfer Goethes und Verfasser der "Gespräche mit Goethe in den letzten Jahren seines Lebens". Eckermann, jedenfalls als Name, ist undenkbar ohne Goethe: Goethes Eckermann eben. Und so hat der Begriff "Eckermann" fast archetypische Züge angenommen. Und der wirkliche, lebendige Eckermann? Das Theaterstück spielt im Jahre 1842: Eckermann, allein geblieben, immer noch in Gedanken und Arbeiten um Goethe kreisend, von Armut, Erfolglosigkeit und Selbstzweifel tief gebeugt, träumt. Wovon könnte er träumen? Vielleicht von Befreiung, von Entstrickung aus der Beziehung zu Goethe, zu Weimar. In dem Theaterstück wird mit diesem Traummodell experimentiert. Wie hätte es aussehen können, wenn Eckermann diesen Schritt gewagt hätte? Wohin könnte so ein Fluchtversuch geführt haben? Im Stück führt die Flucht bis Wien, zu seiner ehemals geliebten Freundin aus Weimarer Zeiten. Aber kann so Befreiung gelingen? Das Theaterstück versucht jedenfalls auf diese Weise ein wenig die eigenartige Gestalt Eckermann zu enträtseln.
