Aki Shimazaki (Gifu, Japón, 1954) vive en Montreal desde 1981 y escribe y publica en francés desde 1991. Es autora de cuatro pentalogías, cuyos libros pueden leerse separadamente. Sus obras, traducidas a numerosos idiomas, han obtenido galardones como el Prix Ringuet, el Prix Canada Japon, el Prix du Gouverneur Général du Canada o el Prix Asie de la Asociación de Escritores en Lengua Francesa.
