Initially, she wrote songs for children's TV shows, until in 1993, from the lyrics of one of her songs, she wrote a story for children. Since then, she has dedicated herself to writing books. Her books are characterized by telling stories for children using rhymes. The Gruffalo, rated by some as "a modern classic", is one of her most popular books.
