رواية أوكالبتوس لهاشم السيد هي العمل الثالث بعد اثنتان وعشرون دقيقة و*أرض الألوان*. العنوان يحيل إلى الإنسان الفلسطيني الصامد الذي يشبه أشجار الأوكالبتوس المتجذّرة في الأرض. السرد يأتي على لسان "حارس المكتبة" في مذكراته التي تشهد على عمل بطولي ضد الاحتلال الإسرائيلي خلال أربع وعشرين ساعة، مقدَّماً نفسه كمواطن عادي عاش الحرب والتهجير والقلق اليومي. الرواية ترمز إلى الصراع الفلسطيني-الإسرائيلي، وتصف الواقع القاتم للفلسطينيين بأسلوب فلسفي رمزي، حيث يتداخل الوجود الفردي مع قضية الوطن. ما يميز النص هو أسلوبه التفاعلي، إذ يخاطب المؤلف القارئ مباشرة، داعياً إياه للمشاركة في إنتاج المعنى والتساؤل حول الحق في تقرير المصير والعيش على الأرض.
