En los albores mismos del nacimiento de la filosofía, Platón (ca. 428-ca. 347 a.C.) planteó, utilizando la dúctil forma del diálogo, buena parte de los principalesEncuadernación: RústicaColección: Clásicos de Grecia y Roma problemas que han ocupado desde entonces al pensamiento filosófico. El presente volumen recoge dos diálogos platónicos fundamentales. "Fedón" aborda principalmente el tema genérico de la muerte, argumentando sobre la pre-existencia del alma con respecto al cuerpo y sobre su inmortalidad. "Fedro" trata de la naturaleza del alma y en él, con la plasticidad de metáforas tan bellas como la del auriga y los caballos, Platón deja bien sentada la idea, de raíces pitagóricas, de que la propensión al bien o al mal del hombre radica en la esencia de la propia estructura del alma.

Plato (Athens, ca. 427 BC – ca. 347 BC) was a Greek philosopher, a disciple of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle, whose work deeply influenced Western philosophy. He founded the Academy of Athens, one of the first educational institutions of the ancient world. His philosophical legacy is conveyed through dialogues, a literary genre in which he developed ideas about ethics, politics, epistemology, and metaphysics.

Among his most recognized works are Apology of Socrates, Crito, and The Symposium, all written approximately between 399 and 385 BC, in addition to The Republic and Phaedo. Through the character of Socrates, Plato explores themes that remain central in philosophical thought. His influence endures to this day, although he received no formal awards, given the historical context.
