Der deutsche Schulrat und Schriftsteller Ludwig Bauer (1832 - 1910), der an den Universitäten Würzburg und München studiert hatte, wirkte als Lehrer in Würzburg, Miltenberg und Kitzingen. Er war Theater- und Musikreferent der Augsburger Abendzeitung und viele Jahre lang Schriftleiter der "Jugendlust". Bauers Lyrik umfa t Natur-, Liebes- und Trinklieder und zahlreiche, in Zeitschriften erschienene vaterländische Gesänge. In den Gedichten und Geschichten für die Jugend zeigt er sich als gütiger Kinderfreund. Die Prosa erinnert im Aufbau der Handlung mit der Häufung wunderbarer Zufälle. Die vorliegende Sammlung seiner Gedichte wurde in zweiter Auflage erstmals 1864 veröffentlicht.
