Die Familie des Grevener Kaufmanns und Ortsvorstehers Wilhelm-August Barkenstein ist nach der Hochzeit seines Sohns Anton-Konrad mit Martina Gro e-Gronenburg 1803 um deren Kinder Antonia-Hermine und Heinrich-Erich angewachsen. Das Familienleben wird nicht nur durch die Weltpolitik von Napoleon Bonaparte gestört, sondern auch durch eine Räuberbande, die es auf die Emspünten der Grevener Kaufleute abgesehen hat. Vor dem Hintergrund historischer Ereignisse des Jahres 1806 wird die abenteuerliche Suche nach den Räubern im Münsterland beschrieben. Diese Erzählung ist die Fortsetzung des Romans "Grevener Grenzgänge". Zum 40. Jahrestag der deutsch-französischen Städtepartner-schaft zwischen Montargis und Greven wird dieses Buch herausgegeben.
