He Built This: Our Story, God’s Glory Home Church Scotland started with fourteen people in a church that was almost finished. It was 146 years old, planted in Kirkintilloch on the back of a D.L. Moody outreach, and by 2018 it was down to a handful of faithful folk and close to shutting its doors for good. Six years on, it’s a family of around a thousand people across twelve campuses, with hundreds baptised and new churches still being planted. Dave Brackenridge will be the first to tell you he didn’t build it. God did. He Built This is the honest story of how it happened. Dave said no to the call twice before he took it. There were battles and betrayals, and a brutal year that nearly broke him. There was a church building in Maryhill that came onto the market the exact hour he searched, and provision that followed within days. Woven through all of it is the vision, the culture and the beliefs that have held a growing church together as it’s grown. The book was written first for people joining the Home Church family, so they’d know who we are and what they’re stepping into. But it’s for anyone who loves the local church. If you lead one, or you’re trying to plant one, or you’ve just about run out of faith that God could do anything with the mess in front of you, this is for you too. Take whatever helps.
