Kōta Hirano (Adachi, Tokyo, July 14, 1973) is a Japanese mangaka known for his bold and dark style, combining action, horror, and supernatural elements. He started his career as a mangaka assistant and hentai author, with works like Angel Dust and Coyote (1995). His first major success came with Hellsing (1997–2008), a dark fantasy and action series that solidified his international reputation. Later, he created Drifters (2009), a historical fantasy manga that has also been well received by the audience.

Among his notable works are Hellsing (1997–2008), Drifters (2009–present), Hellsing: The Dawn (2001–2006), Coyote (1995), and The Legend of the Vampire Hunter (1996).
