Historias de infames: ladrones, rufianes, piratas, traidores. Aquí están, entre otros, el atroz Lazarus Morell, redentor de esclavos; el impostor Tom Castro, hijo apócrifo y tolerante; la aguerrida viuda de Ching, hábil en el saqueo en altamar, y el incivil maestro de ceremonias Kotsuké no Suké, aciago funcionario. Les siguen "Hombre de la esquina rosada", uno de sus relatos más celebrados, y "Etcétera", un testimonio de sus incontables lecturas: «A veces creo que los buenos lectores son cisnes aun más tenebrosos y singulares que los buenos autores».

Jorge Luis Borges (Buenos Aires, 1899 – Geneva, 1986) was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century, noted for his originality and literary precision. His work, primarily in the genres of short stories, essays, and poetry, redefined literature in the Spanish language. Throughout his life, he cultivated unparalleled erudition, with constant references to philosophy, metafiction, labyrinths, and the infinite.

Among his most recognized works are Fictions (1944), The Aleph (1949), The Maker (1960), and The Book of Sand (1975). Although he never received the Nobel Prize, he did obtain numerous international accolades for his work. His legacy continues to be a subject of study and admiration in the literary world worldwide.
