What does the Book of Judges reveal about the Holy Spirit—and why do Israel’s imperfect deliverers leave us longing for a greater King? Holy Spirit Explained: The Spirit from the Judges to the Prophets, Volume III continues Rev. Gilbert Harmon’s Scripture-centered journey through the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. Beginning in the turbulent days of the judges, this volume traces God’s sovereign activity through Othniel, Gideon, Jephthah, Samson, Ruth, Israel’s monarchy, and the prophetic promises that point toward the Messiah, the New Covenant, and the outpouring of the Spirit. Drawing primarily from the King James Version, this substantial biblical study explores the difference between divine empowerment and human character, the limits of earthly leadership, the quiet providence of God, the meaning of redemption, and the Holy Spirit’s role in preparing God’s people for Jesus Christ. It also considers how biblical truth speaks to modern questions of power, technology, artificial intelligence, responsibility, and faithful Christian living. Readers will discover: • How the Spirit empowered Israel’s judges without approving every human decision • Why giftedness must never be confused with holiness or spiritual maturity • How Ruth reveals God’s providence, covenant faithfulness, and the path to David’s royal line • Why the failures of judges and kings point to Jesus Christ, the true Deliverer and everlasting King • How the prophets anticipated the Messiah, the New Covenant, and the Spirit’s transforming work • Why Scripture must govern spiritual claims, leadership, culture, and technology Written for pastors, teachers, students, ministry leaders, and believers who desire a deeper understanding of the Bible, this volume combines careful exposition, theological reflection, devotional application, and Christ-centered interpretation. It presents the Holy Spirit not as an impersonal force, but as the living God who inspired Scripture, advances the Father’s redemptive purpose, glorifies the Son, and forms a holy people. Travel from the chaos of Judges to the hope of the prophets and see how every temporary deliverer, every faithful act, every covenant promise, and every prophetic word prepares the way for Jesus Christ.
