El libro desvela los rasgos de los aprovechamientos del agua en la sociedad valenciana de los siglos XIII-XIX, la lógica comunitaria que los guiaba y los antagonismos suscitados en torno a dicho recurso vital. Analiza los diversos usos –regadío, molinería, abastecimiento doméstico, transporte fluvial, etc.–, además de los efectos negativos provocados por el estrés hídrico o los excesos de agua. Para ello se contemplan las características geográficas, así como las repercusiones que sobre el medio ambiente comportó desviar el agua de su ciclo natural para aprovecharla como recurso comunitario.


The book reveals the features of water use in Valencian society from the thirteenth to the nineteenth centuries, the community logic that guided them and the antagonisms aroused around this vital resource. It analyses the various uses –irrigation, milling, domestic supply, transport river, etc.–, as well as the negative effects caused by water stress or excess water. To this end, it considers the geographical characteristics and the environmental impact of diverting water from its natural cycle to use it as a community resource.
