In diesem Band wird eine kritische Edition der ersten Vorlesungen vorgelegt, die der Privatdozent Paul Tillich an der Berliner Theologischen Fakultät gehalten hat. Es handelt sich dabei um folgende Vorlesungen: 1. Das Christentum und die Gesellschaftsprobleme der Gegenwart (1919), 2. Enzyklopädie der Theologie und Religionswissenschaft (1920), 3. Religion und Kultur (1920), 4. Religionsphilosophie (1920). Hinzu kommt eine Hörernachschrift der Vorlesung Religionsphilosophie. Die bisher unveröffentlichten Manuskripte aus dem in der Harvard University befindlichen Nachla Paul Tillichs geben uns ein differenziertes Bild des kulturtheologischen und religionsphilosophischen Denkens Paul Tillichs in den ersten Jahren der Weimarer Republik. Der Band enthält einen editorischen Bericht, eine historische Einleitung sowie ein Personen- und Sachregister. Anmerkungen geben textkritische und inhaltliche Informationen zum Text.
