ENGLISH: The years between 1808 and 1812, which conceived the great emancipations in the Spanish colonies of Tierra Firme, also witnessed the growing tensions and incipient independence aspirations in the island of Cuba. Neglected for a long time in Cuban historiography, this formative stage in the country s history has recently received more attention and recognition as the bicentennials of the most notable events approached: the frustrated Junta de La Habana, the expulsion of the French, the riots of blacks, conspiracies of whites, interracial and blacks, and the first constitution project. This work limits itself to trying to clarify aspects of the conspiracies of 1809 and 1810, which suffered frequent distortions due to the varied readings of the scarce documentation, and to present the information available in the light of an interpretation that allows reordering the chronology of the facts and reevaluate the performance of the protagonists. SPANISH: Los años comprendidos entre 1808 y 1812, que engendraron las grandes emancipaciones en las colonias españolas de Tierra Firme, fueron también testigos de crecientes tensiones e incipientes aspiraciones independentistas en la Isla de Cuba. Descuidada por mucho tiempo en la historiografía cubana, esta etapa formativa del país ha recibido recientemente más atención y reconocimiento según se cumplían los bicentenarios de los hechos más notables: la frustrada Junta de La Habana, la expulsión de los franceses y los motines de negros, las conspiraciones blancas, interraciales y negras, y el primer proyecto de constitución. Este trabajo se limita a tratar de esclarecer aspectos de las conspiraciones de 1809 y 1810, que han sufrido frecuentes distorsiones debido a las lecturas variadas de la escasa documentación, y a presentar la información disponible a la luz de una interpretación que permita reordenar la cronología de los hechos y reevaluar la ejecutoria de los protagonistas.
