Synopsis "Kosmopolitismus: Weltbuergerdiskurse in Literatur, Philosophie und Publizistik um 1800 (in German)"

Im Zentrum des Buches steht die Rekonstruktion der Debatte, die im Europa des späten 18. und frühen 19. Jahrhunderts um die Idee des Kosmopolitismus geführt wurde. Am Beispiel von Rousseau, Kant, Jean Paul, Eichendorff u.a. wird gezeigt, dass man das 18. Jahrhundert zwar zu Recht als ein weltbürgerliches Jahrhundert bezeichnen, dabei aber nicht von einer homogenen Weltbürgeridee ausgehen kann. Mit den Methoden der historisch-semantischen Diskursanalyse wird die bereits um 1800 erfolgende spektrale Aufspaltung des Weltbürgerdiskurses nachgezeichnet und vor dem Hintergrund konkurrierender politischer, moralischer und rechtlicher Interessen interpretiert. Das um 1800 entstandene, kontroverse weltbürgliche Argumentationsrepertoire bestimmt bis heute die etwa von Jacques Derrida und Jürgen Habermas geführten Diskussionen um Globalisierung und Internationalität.
