Synopsis "La Doble Vida de Arsène Lupin/ Arsène Lupin in 813 (in Spanish)"

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION If you've already finished Netflix's Lupin, never fear-the Arsène Lupin books have plenty of mystery to keep you occupied while waiting for the next part of the series. The French counterpart to Sherlock Holmes, Arsène Lupin is both a brilliant detective and a dashing master criminal with his own strong code of ethics. Slender, elegant, refined, brilliant, and seductive, he is the model of the "Belle Epoque" dandy. His intelligence, culture, and talents as an illusionist are all at the service of his astonishing nerve. But this accomplished man of the world is also an anarchist at heart, playing with social conventions with marvelous insolence. In 813, when millionaire Rudolf Kesselbach is found dead, the evidence points to Arsène Lupin as his killer. Proclaiming his innocence, Lupin insists on heading the police search for the real murderer. The mystery involves a package of letters written to German statesman Otto von Bismarck, a clock on which the number 813 has an important significance, and a reigning emperor who must make several journeys incognito. Murders by the dozen, suicide, and mild forms of torture are the warp and woof of this greatest adventure of the wily gentleman-thief.

Maurice-Marie-Émile Leblanc (Rouen, December 11, 1864-Perpignan, November 6, 1941), better known as Maurice Leblanc, was a French novelist and short story writer

Born into a wealthy family, his father was a rich shipowner based in Rouen. After finishing his law studies, he dedicated himself to working in various industries in the region. After a while not applying himself much to industrial work, he moved to Paris, where he began his literary career, from around 1892 until 1904. He published about ten books, the first of which was titled: Des Couples (Couples).

In 1904, Pierre Laffite, director of Je sais Tout, commissioned him a story for his newly founded magazine. Maurice accepted the commission and soon delivered an original titled "The Arrest of Arsène Lupin". According to the author's own words, this was the only Lupin story he had planned. However, Pierre Laffite was strongly impressed by the character and encouraged Leblanc to develop the character.

Thus, at forty years old and with a literary prestige earned by his previous works, Arsène Lupin was born from the hand of Leblanc, a gentleman thief, whose work consists of almost 20 books.
