Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (1873-1954) fue una célebre novelista francesa, pionera en la literatura femenina y figura rebelde del siglo XX. Nacida en Borgoña, se trasladó a París tras casarse con "Willy", quien la presionó para escribir la exitosa serie Claudine (1900), publicada bajo el seudónimo de él. Tras divorciarse y trabajar como actriz de music-hall, consolidó su propia voz con obras centradas en el deseo, la sensualidad y la naturaleza, como La vagabunda, Chéri y Gigi.Colette desafió las convenciones sociales con su vida amorosa y su independencia. Su estilo destaca por una prosa sensorial, elegante y minuciosa, enfocada en la psicología femenina y la libertad personal. Fue la primera mujer en presidir la Academia Goncourt (1945), miembro de la Legión de Honor y la primera escritora francesa en recibir un funeral de Estado.
