Una expedicion cientifica llega a la Antartida y echa anclas. Cuando el periodista de la CNN baja a tierra para grabar parte de su reportaje, una enorme esfera luminosa aparece de pronto en el cielo, envuelve el barco en un resplandor blanco y desaparece tan misteriosamente como ha aparecido. El hecho es presenciado por una audiencia tan masiva como incredula.
