Una tal Angelica Gorodischer que habia escrito un par de libros, tres para ser exactos, encontro una vez en un diccionario la palabra jubea que suena tan bien, pero tan bien, con tantas vocales, una suave be y una jota que puede aspirarse en una casi hache, que decidio adoptarla. No le importo que se tratara de una palmera que no da flores. Soy una escritora, se dijo, y buenas o malas o regulares, las escritoras estamos para eso, para conferir al mundo otra realidad. Fue asi como empezo este libro. Despues escribio otros, unos dieciseis o veinte mas, segun desde donde se empiece a contar. Tambien le dieron unos cuantos premios. Fue a congresos, dijo conferencias, fue jurado de concursos, en fin, hizo todo lo que hacen las escritoras. Y parece que va a seguir escribiendo.

Angélica Gorodischer is a storyteller. She wrote numerous books, among which are Mango Juice (1988), The Night of the Innocent (1996), How to Succeed in Life (1998), Mint (2000), Imperial Kalpa (2001), Everywhere (2003), Story of My Mother (2004), Jaguar's Tomb (2005), The Darkroom (2009) and Corkscrew (2011). She received, among others, the Konex Platinum Award, Emecé (for her novel Alabaster Vases, Bokhara Carpets, published in 1985), Más Allá, Esteban Echeverría and Dignity, awarded by the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights for her work in favor of women's rights. In 2011, in the United States, she was awarded the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement. Her stories are featured in anthologies in the country and abroad. She has been translated into German, English, French, Italian, Russian, Czech, and Portuguese.
