Kin-Fo es tan, pero tan rico, que se aburre de todo. Nada le llama la atención. Cuando Kin-Fo se entera de que perdió su fortuna, contrata una póliza de seguro para asegurar su vida, la cual sería pagada si él muriera aun en caso de suicidio, por lo que convence a su amigo Wang para que lo asesine en los siguientes dos meses. El amigo desaparece y Kin-Fo comienza a arrepentirse de lo que le pidió, sobre todo cuando le informan de que podría salvar su fortuna. Para evitar que lo mate, comienza a viajar por toda China. ¿Podrá Kin-Fo escapar de su asesino y recuperar las ganas de vivir?

Jules Verne was a prolific French author who is considered one of the fathers of science fiction, alongside the English H. G. Wells. He began by writing some theatrical plays and published several short stories and scientific articles.
