Lucía María Etxebarria Asteinza (Valencia, December 7, 1966) is a Spanish writer. Born in Valencia, daughter of a couple from Bermeo, she was the last of seven siblings. She later moved to Madrid, where she graduated in English Philology and Journalism.

The way Etxebarria addresses and deals with issues such as the role of women in today's society, motherhood, feminism, sexuality, social relationships, or gender stereotypes has been the subject of various analyses from the academic, university, and literary fields.
