Synopsis "Los miserables vol. 2 (in Spanish)"

En su prólogo a Los miserables (1862), Victor Hugo (1802-1885) denunció explicitamente la tesis que lo habia inspirado: revelar la "condenación social", producto de las leyes y costumbres, y bosquejar un cuadro de los tres grandes problemas del pueblo: "la degradación del hombre por el proletariado, la decadencia de la mujer por el hambre, y la atrofia del niño por la ignorancia". Y concluye: "mientras haya en la tierra ignorancia y miseria, libros como éste podrán no ser inútiles".
