Max built his life as an outfitter in the rugged backcountry he loves-guiding hunters, anglers, and dreamers through sweeping valleys and mountains. Annie, an Idaho Ranger, has sworn to protect this land-every river bend, every hidden meadow, every soaring ridge she shared as a child with her Father. Her biggest problem is that the locals, including Max, don't trust her motives or the government.

At first, Annie and Max find themselves on opposite sides of a fight neither can afford to lose. Yet long days in the saddle and nights beneath a star-lit sky, fighting an unknown enemy, blur the division between them; before long, they must challenge their beliefs by fighting together for the same goal.

Saving the wilderness might mean surrendering their hearts-and discovering that love, like the land itself, is a future worth fighting for.
