Synopsis "Loyalty"

When David McBeth suspects that his best friend, the village policeman, is a 'Sleeper', a long term spy for the Soviet Union, it tests his loyalty to the limit. He can remember when the Clyde sent convoys to aid our Russian friends during the War, but now, in 1962, he watches nuclear submarines leaving the river to guard against Soviet aggression. When his estranged daughter returns with Henry, the grandson David has never met, they bring their own baggage of divided loyalties and betrayals. Growing up not knowing his father is blighting Henry's newly achieved adulthood. Too many secrets have festered from being locked away for too long. Yet, even when the family resolve to share everything, old habits prove hard to break. If trust is broken can it ever be fully restored? How do you balance your duty of loyalty amongst family, community and country? While the problems of the past are still being resolved, new obligations and loyalties are forming that have to be absorbed into the family consciousness. The emotional earthquake they live through in just one week changes their perspectives for ever after.
