Synopsis "Mating Rituals"

Richard Knight has walked in two worlds: the one we see, and the one we mostly don't, with monsters, heroes, angels and demons. They're the same world, but few people know it. Retired as an urban fantasy hero, Richard writes "fiction" and teaches "folklore" at New York University to prepare the "real" world for when surreal threats get out of hand. When a former protégé starts selling women's souls to demons, Richard must come out of retirement to deal with that threat directly. He also has to go clubbing, since that's where his protégé operates. New York's club scene isn't his world, but it'll be familiar soon enough, with a bad guy to best, a damsel to save, and the forces of Hell to keep at bay. Until the damsel won't cooperate. She doesn't think she needs saving, despite having fallen victim to a murderer and finding herself surrounded by demons. She's not keen on being an object in someone else's story either. Maybe Richard and this "bad guy" should work out whatever they need to work out and leave her out of it, thank you very much. Perhaps this is a new world for Richard after all...
